A man has died while playing in a football match in Jersey.
Jayson Lee, a 38-year-old detective constable with Jersey Police, was playing for St John over 40s against St Peter when he collapsed on Saturday.
Witnesses say Mr Lee collapsed after he had been on as a substitute for 12 minutes at FB Fields. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Mr Lee represented Jersey in athletics, finishing 14th in the 5,000m at the 2001 Island Games in the Isle of Man.
"We are all in a state of shock," said St John FC president Nigel Perree.
"There were people there who had their first aid badge and immediately went into action," he told BBC Radio Jersey.
Mr Lee joined Jersey Police in September 1991.
Acting chief officer David Warcup said: "He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
An inquiry into Mr Lee's death has begun and a file will be put forward to Jersey's deputy viscount.
