Jersey take on Guernsey in badminton

Jersey have scraped into an Island Games semi-final play-off by beating Guernsey, who fail to qualify.

They got off to a disappointing start, losing their first team match 3-2 to Minorca, and then suffering defeat at the hands of Faroe Islands.

But a 3-2 win against their local rivals sent Jersey through to a play-off with the Isle of Man.

Team manager Ian Coombes-Goodfellow felt his side struggled but had the spirit to bounce back.

He said: "We were very much struggling but we've come back, we've bounced back, we've had some great support from the shooters that have been down here with us.

"I feel for Guernsey but we showed a lot of spirit towards the end and it has been fantastic."
