 Black broke a new Island Games record in the Men's 200m individual medley |
Jersey's Ian Black won two gold medals and set a new record on the opening day of swimming action in the Island Games in Aaland. Black began in the 100m breaststroke, beating the Isle of Wight's Mikael Popov by more than a second. Black later won gold in the 200m individual medley where he set a new games record of 2 minutes 3.90 seconds. Pal Joensen of the Faroe Islands finished second and Jeremy Osborne of Guernsey finished third. Jersey's John Gallichan also added to the island's medal tally with a silver in the Men's 1,500m freestyle with a time of 15:46.50. Gallichan was beaten to the gold by Pal Joensen of the Faroe Islands who swam in 15:44.68.
