Jersey's petanque team makes the trip to Guernsey this weekend for the annual inter-insular match. Guernsey have enjoyed success over the last decade, only losing once in 2006. The Jersey team is more organised this year, having created their own association, and now have a pool of 270 members to pick the team from. Inter-insular captain Mick Cotillard is happy with his team: "It's a very experienced team with a flash of the new with two players on their debut." This championship is very important to the islands as a lot of time has been invested by the committees into the sport. This year's inter-insular will have a new format with teams organised into pairs, with each partnership playing four matches. The first team to reach 24 matches will be victorious. "It will be very tough to beat Guernsey away from home, but it would be great to regain the cup," Elaine Paisnel, secretary of the Jersey Petanque Association, told BBC Jersey.
