Young petanque players in Jersey will take on a team from France for the first time ever next week.

A team from Les Quennevais School, in St Brelade, will face a side from Coutances, in Normandy, for the Amitie Trophy on Wednesday 7 May.

Each team will be made up of 20 players and there will be doubles and triples matches.

It is part of an ongoing development plan for young players in the island through sessions at local schools.
