Jersey's AIB Tigers swimming club impressed at the ASA National Swimming Championships which concluded in Sheffield on Saturday. Team members set three island records and more than a dozen personal bests. Emma Glendening showed great form in the freestyle events, breaking her own 100 metres record and setting a new 200 metres mark. Team-mate Tom Gallichan erased Simon le Couilliard's 100 metre backstroke record from 2001 in a time of 1:02.22. Glendening, who set times of 1:01.22 in the 100m and 2:11.60 in the 200m, missed a third record by just two hundredths of a second, with a time of 28.78 in the 50m freestyle. The record of 28.76 has been held by Jersey Swimming Club's Rebecca Brewer since 1992. Ebony Jacklin, competing at her first nationals, impressed with personal bests in both her swims: 1:01.70 in the 100m freestyle and 28.83 in the 50m sprint.
