Jersey won two more gold medals at the Jeux des Isles in Guadeloupe, West Indies on Tuesday.

Gemma Dawkins won the island's first ever gold medal on the track as she claimed victory in the 400m.

In the pool, Tom Gallichan won gold in the 200m backstroke, while Jersey also won five silver medals during the day.

Gallichan broke the event record as he won in a time of two minutes and 12.51 seconds to add to the gold won on Monday by Charlotte Manning.

"It's awesome," said Gallichan. "It was a great swim but I was 0.4sec off the junior island record so I'm a bit disappointed.

"Hopefully I'll get that at the nationals at the start of August."

Jersey also took two silvers in the pool. Grace le Couillard was second in the 200m backstroke, missing out on gold by 0.23 of a second.

Katy Glendenning also got a silver in the 800m freestyle.

As well as Dawkins' gold on the track Jersey's athletes also won three silver medals thanks to Zane Duquemin in the shotput, Felicity Johnson-Deeley over 1500m and Katherine Rothwel in the discus.
