Emma Glendenning aims to qualify for a final for the third year

Eight of Jersey's best young swimmers are in action this week at the National Age Group Championships in Sheffield.

Tom Gallichan makes the trip to Ponds Forge with good memories as he qualified for a final last year.

Emma Glendenning also has high hopes as she has reached the finals at the nationals two years running.

AIB Tigers coach Nathan Jegou is looking forward to a week of top class competition; he believes that Jersey should make at least three finals.

Jegou told BBC Jersey: "This is the pinnacle of the season for the swimmers and they have all done really well."

All eight swimmers competing in Sheffield are already pleased just to have reached the championships.

The qualifying times were faster than last year, having been worked out on a national average.

"This is the end of the season so we hope the guys come good," Jegou added.
