Tiger's Ian Black was unable to stop Beau Sejour win |
The Channel Island's Inter Club Trophy in swimming has left Jersey for the first time. The Inter Club Trophy, contested between the four Channel Islands swimming clubs, has finally left Jersey with Beau Sejour swimming club taking it back to Guernsey for the first time. AIB Tiger's Swimming Club had only lost the trophy once to Jersey swimming club back in the 1980's. Then two years ago there was a tie between Tigers and Beau Sejour. But this year the Guernsey team won with 153 points to Tigers 147.5 with Guernsey Swimming Club third with 106 and Jersey Swimming Club last with 85 points Tigers Head Coach Christina Blampied said: "We didn't give it up without a fight, but congratulations to Beau Sejour." The Tiger's did not give up with a fight, actually winning twenty two events to Beau Sejours' twenty. However, a lack of swimmers in the boys under-15 age group proved their undoing. Balmpied added: "Not making excuses, but our thirteen year olds had to swim up, we don't have any fifteen and under boys that are fast enough. "We'll come back strong next year."
