Black was competing against GB's Olympic squad |
AIB Tigers swimmer Ian Black set a new Island Record in the 50m Breaststroke at the ASA National Championships in Liverpool on Thursday. Black smashed his old record and finished in a time of 30.94 seconds. All of Great Britain's Beijing-bound team competed at the championships and Black he admitted to a few nerves. "It was good experience to be up against all the Olympic athletes. I thought it was a good first swim and it shows where I am," he told BBC Radio Jersey. Black still has swims in the 200m and 400m Individual Medley as well as the 100m Breaststroke. Jersey's other swimming at the championships is Jersey Swimming Club and current Bath University swimmer, Katie Speller. She came sixteenth in the 200m Individual Medley last night in a time of 2:26.22.
