Dale Garland's hopes of a place in Beijing look increasingly slim |
Dale Garland's Olympic dream looks all but over after a scan on his hamstring injury revealed a muscle tear. The 27-year-old is still a second or so away from the qualifying standard to run in Beijing in the 400m hurdles. "I've been training every day for five years for this moment to try and go to the Olympics, or even the opportunity to qualify. "To have that taken away from you is just very, very frustrating," he told BBC Guernsey. But he has not completely given up hope just yet. While he has pulled out of this weekend's Olympic trials in Birmingham, he has one final chance to make the qualifying standard at a meeting in Loughborough on Thursday 17 July. "Fingers crossed I can somehow get there on the start line in a week," he said.
