Guernsey runner Tom Druce beat Keith Falla's 600m island record by over a second at Footes Lane on Wednesday. Druce - the 2007 Island Games 400m bronze medallist - clocked 78.27 seconds to smash Falla's mark of 79.6s, which was set in 1970. Druce told BBC Guernsey that the crowd at Footes Lane helped him set the mark. "They turned out in force and were a very supportive crowd. I was certainly aware of them spurring me on down the home straight at the end," he said. But the man who beat him to gold in the 400m at last year's Island Games, Olympic hopeful Dale Garland, failed to break his own Guernsey 200m record.
