Garland still off Olympics pace

Guernsey 400m hurdler Dale Garland has failed to make the qualifying time for this summer's Beijing Olympics at the European Cup meeting in France.

He finished fifth on Saturday in a time of 50.65 seconds, almost half a second slower than his season-best time.

He needs to run 49.20 in order to make the 'A' qualifying standard.

But he was part of the Great Britain 4x400m relay team, which finished second to help the men's team claim their fifth European Cup.
