Guernsey 400m hurdler Dale Garland believes he still needs to run faster to get picked for this summer's Olympics in Beijing. Garland set a time of 50.54 seconds at Bedford last week, the fastest by a Briton this year, but is aiming for the "A" qualifying standard of 49.2. "I'd like to be a little bit faster at this stage," he told BBC Guernsey. "I need to take about a second off what I ran the other day to get to the Olympics," he added. Garland has been part of the British squad for the past two years and has run at the last two World Indoor Championships. He won the UK Championships last year and was second in 2004 and 2005 behind Chris Rawlinson. He also ran at the 2007 World Championships in Japan but failed to get out of the heats.
