Sneddon has returned to the Diamonds for a second season |
Newcastle Diamonds have re-signed rider Derek Sneddon for the 2011 Premier League campaign. Sneddon, 28, was part of the Diamonds' 2010 treble haul of honours in his debut season at Brough Park, following two successful campaigns at Edinburgh. "He works well and is a vital cog in gelling the whole team together," said team boss Darryl Illingworth. "We know only too well to our huge advantage; team spirit can turn a season from average to spectacular." Illingworth added: "This is a very important signing for 2011." Sneddon is the sixth rider to confirm his future with the Newcastle club, with one further slot in the roster to be filled. "So far we have an excellent balance to the team," Illingworth continued. "Derek, Stuart Robson and Mark Lemon have high-powered scoring experience and leadership. "Rene Bach has that blast of top end youthful enthusiastic power, the 'x-factor' if you like, and then two young reserves in Kyle Newman and Richie Worrall both keen to learn and progress at a fast rate to bottom out the team perfectly."
