Championship one side Gateshead Thunder have signed former Toulouse reserve grade half-back Joe Causer on a one-year deal. The 22-year-old will combine his playing duties with a legal practice course at Northumbria University. "I am really looking forward to the opportunity and I've been impressed by everything that I've seen so far at the club," Causer told the club website. "There is a really friendly but competitive atmosphere at the club." Causer added: "I feel that this is the right place for me to be." The former West Hull and Skirlaugh amateur played for Toulouse Jules Julien XIII in 2008-09, before returning to England to represent both the Leeds Metropolitan and Scotland student sides last season.
