Gateshead Thunder have signed prop forward Nick Staveley for the 2011 Championship One campaign. Staveley, 28, spent last season in the amateur ranks with Queens ARLFC in Leeds, having previously represented the Tynesiders in 2004. "It's great to be back in both the professional game and at Gateshead Thunder," Staveley said. "I am excited about the challenge ahead but I'm sure that it will be tough in the pack this season." The front-rower's arrival at the International Stadium is a boost to new head coach Richard Pell, who is assembling his squad for the forthcoming campaign. | He has the attitude we are looking for Thunder coach Richard Pell |
"Nick is a solid lad with a desire to succeed and push those around him," Pell said. "He has the attitude we are looking for next year and I'm sure he will be another big hit with the fans."
