Lemon has ridden for Newcastle for the last two seasons

Newcastle Diamonds have signed rider Mark Lemon from Elite League side Poole Pirates on a permanent basis.

The 37-year-old has been on loan with the Diamonds for the last two seasons and helped the club to three major pieces of silverware last term.

Co-promoter Darryl Illingworth said: "I can see him continuing to ride for another two or three years yet.

"He is the sort of guy who will get you points home and away; he is a wise old head to have around."

Illingworth added: "His experience certainly helped the younger riders like Dakota North this year."
