Lemon was injured at the Australian National Championships

Newcastle Diamonds are confident that Mark Lemon will be fit to ride during the 2010 Premier League season despite suffering crushed vertebrae.

Lemon was injured at the Australian championships, but team boss George English is confident of his return.

Team boss George English said: "At first it seemed it was nothing more than bad bruising.

"But he had a second opinion on the x-rays which confirmed the crushed vertebrae."

English added: "He will rest for a while before beginning physiotherapy in about three weeks.

"And there are no problems with him making the start of our season in March."

Lemon agreed a return to the Diamonds line-up in November 2009 along with Danish rider Kenni Larsen.
