Newcastle defender Mike Williamson has been handed a three-match ban for violent conduct during Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Bolton.
The 27-year-old had denied the charge relating to the incident, missed by referee Howard Webb, in which he barged into striker Johan Elmander.
Despite being found guilty after contesting the charge, Williamson escaped a possible extended ban.
Newcastle also had Fabricio Coloccini sent off for elbowing Elmander.
The Magpies will now be without both regular centre-backs for Sunday's home match against league leaders Chelsea.
In their absence, Sol Campbell is likely to make his first Premier League start since joining in the summer, while Steven Taylor could also make a first appearance of the season having recovered from a long-term injury.
