Phil Morris is currently on loan at Stoke Potters from Birmingham |
Stoke Potters begin a congested Easter programme when they travel to meet Birmingham Brummies on Friday. Stoke beat Birmingham 54-41 in a challenge match before the start of the Premier Trophy. Potters rider Phil Morris, who is on loan from the Brummies, told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm looking forward to going back to somewhere I know. "We did well against Birmingham in the challenge match so we want to go there and put one over on them again." The Potters have three matches in the space of four days, with two fixtures against Rye House, home and away, to follow on Saturday and Monday. Saturday's meeting will include celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the Potters' formation. The sport was first introduced to Stoke-on-Trent at the old Sun Street track in Hanley on 11 April, 1929. Former riders Reg Freeman, Peter Jarman, Eric Hockaday, Colin Pratt and Kid Bodie will return for the event. "We shall have one or two of the old riders from years gone by, so it's going to be exciting," promoter Dave Tattum told BBC Radio Stoke. "Reg Freeman will be coming over from France where he now lives, which says it all really. "People from all over the place are coming to celebrate this special occasion with us."
