The Potters started the season with a win against Birmingham on Saturday

Stoke Potters will ride competitively for the first time in 2009 when they take on the Scunthorpe Scorpions in the Premier Trophy on Friday night.

Promoter Dave Tattum said: "It will be a good test of our credentials. If we are to realise our ambitions we need to overcome teams like Scunthorpe."

Stoke will ride again on Saturday, against King's Lynn at Loomer Road.

They have been drawn in the same group as Scunthorpe, King's Lynn, Somerset, Birmingham, Rye House and Newport.

The Potters have made an encouraging start to the season, beating Birmingham Brummies 54-41 in a challenge match on Saturday.
