Brummies looking to secure future

Birmingham Brummies
Birmingham are one of the best supported clubs in the Premier League

Birmingham Brummies boss Tony Mole is optimistic that the city council will allow the club to continue at Perry Barr for the foreseeable future.

The Brummies are entering the final year of their original three-year planning agreement.

The Premier League club are now submitting a new planning application to safeguard their future.

"We expect to be supported by the planning department and the committee who were most supportive," said Mole.

"We have brought national recognition to the city with what we have achieved."

While last season's league campaign was marred by a host of serious injuries in the Brummies' ranks, the Perry Barr track enhanced its reputation with the staging of the Elite League Riders' Championship.

With a terrific fan base building over the first two seasons since speedway returned to Birmingham, the club would almost certainly be welcomed to the Elite League in the future if they chose to apply for a place in the top flight.
