Bradley Smith qualified in second place for the second successive race. |
Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith failed to build on last weekend's podium finish at Silverstone as he came fourth in the Dutch 125cc Grand Prix in Assen. The 19-year-old from Oxford qualified in second place but was unable to build on a good starting position. The race at Assen was won by Marc Marquez, ahead of championship leader Nico Terol, with Pol Espargaro completing an all Spanish top three. The victory for Marquez was his third in successive 125cc Moto GPs. Looking to add to his first podium of the season at Silverstone last week, Smith made a decent start. But, after sitting second behind Marc Marquez on the opening lap, he was unable to match the blistering pace set by the Spaniards, dropping back to fifth on lap three. Smith moved back up to fourth on lap four when Efren Vazquez crashed, but was unable to chase down Espargaro.
