Sam Lowes has had five top-three finishes from six races this season |
Lincoln's Sam Lowes opened up a 15-point lead in the British Supersport Championship with victory in a rain-soaked round six at Knockhill. He took his second win of the season for GNS Racing Honda ahead of second-placed Boston rider Ben Wilson on the Gearlink Kawasaki. Lowes' twin brother Alex finished fifth on the Seton Interceptor Yamaha, having started last but one in 32nd place. James Westmoreland, who had jointly led the series with Sam, was sixth. HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes leads the British Superbike Championship after finishing third behind winner, Riders Ducati's Michael Rutter and Brookes' team-mate in the Louth-based squad, Ryuichi Kiyonari. Louth's Peter Hickman failed to finish the opening race on the Ultimate Racing Yamaha. The second Superbike race of the day was called off because of high winds and will now be held at the next round of the series at Snetterton.
