Sam Lowes was making his debut with GNS Racing at Brands Hatch

Lincoln's Sam Lowes claimed his maiden British Supersport win in the opening round of the series at Brands Hatch.

The 19-year-old, who won the Supersport Cup in 2009, qualified sixth on the grid for GNS Racing and was soon involved in a battle for the lead.

After moving to the front of the pack on his Honda he began to pull clear and set a new lap record of 46.808 seconds.

An oil spill then led to the race being red-flagged on lap 22 to give him and the team their debut victory.
