HM Plant Honda call up Muggeridge

Muggeridge last raced in a British series 10 years ago

Australian Karl Muggeridge is to race for HM Plant Honda in the British Superbike Championship rounds at Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park in August.

The former World Supersport champion replaces Josh Brookes who is suspended.

Muggeridge will race for the Louth team alongside Steve Brogan at Brands and John McGuinness at Cadwell, as they fill in for the injured Glen Richards.

Woodhall Spa's Steve Plater turned down the chance to replace Richards to focus on the British Supersport title.

Richards suffered a broken left leg in a crash in round six at Knockhill while Brookes was banned for two rounds after causing a crash at Mallory Park which eliminated the six leading riders including himself.

Muggeridge raced for the team when they were in World Supersport and has also been a factory Honda rider, but has never finished on the podium in more than 100 World Superbike races.
