HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards will miss several rounds of the British Superbike Championship after breaking his leg in a crash at Knockhill. The Australian, who now lives in Leicestershire, suffered a broken femur in a collision with Ian Lowry during Saturday's qualifying session. A spokesman for the Louth-based team said an operation on Sunday to pin the broken bone was a success. It is not yet known who will replace Richards in the team. Steve Plater, who currently leads the British Supersport Championship for HM Plant Honda, deputised for Richards' team-mate and fellow Australian Josh Brookes in the opening round at Brands Hatch, after he was refused entry to the UK because of problems with his visa. The Woodhall Spa racer finished in third place in race two of the meeting.
