Wilson is now joint fourth in the British Supersport Championship |
Boston's Ben Wilson claimed his first British Supersport Championship victory at Knockhill in Scotland on Sunday. Riding for Gearlink Kawasaki in round six of the series, Wilson took the win after a battle with James Westmoreland. He said: "That was a real team effort. The bike was perfect and now I want more of the same." Sam Lowes from Lincoln was 10th while Woodhall Spa's Steve Plater crashed when challenging for the lead but recovered to finish 11th. Despite his mishap on the HM Plant Honda, Plater still has a 15-point advantage in the standings over Billy McConnell, who was fourth on the Raceways Yamaha. In Superbikes, HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes claimed two podium finishes, coming home third and second for the Louth-based team. Louth rider Peter Hickman finished 12th and 14th for Ultimate Racing Yamaha in the two races, with Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier continuing his dominance of the series, taking both victories to raise his tally for the season to 10. Meanwhile Brookes' team-mate Glen Richards will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering a broken femur in a collision with Ian Lowry during Saturday's qualifying session. The Australian underwent a successful operation to pin the broken bone on Sunday.
