Honda call up Brogan and Plater

British Superbikes

Steve Brogan and Steve Plater are to deputise for HM Plant Honda's Glen Richards in the next three rounds of the British Superbike Championship.

Richards suffered a broken left leg in a crash in round six at Knockhill.

Brogan, who won the Superstock 1000 title on a Honda in 2008, will race in round seven at Mallory Park on 19 July.

Current British Supersport Championship leader Plater will ride in both series in rounds eight and nine at Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park in August.

Plater has already deputised for Richards' team-mate and fellow Australian Josh Brookes in the opening round at Brands Hatch, finishing in third place in race two of the meeting.

Richards had a successful operation to pin his broken femur and hopes to return to racing before the end of the season.
