Rain thwarts Lincs' hopes of win

Martyn Dobson made 107 in Lincolnshire's first innings

Lincolnshire's Minor Counties match against Northumberland ended in a draw after rain brought an early end to the final day's play at Cleethorpes.

Set a victory target of 278 by the visitors, Lincs were 116-2 when play stopped, with Vikram Atri 52 not out and Mathew Dowman unbeaten on 48.

The visitors had declared their second innings at lunch on 169-4.

Martyn Dobson hit 107 as Lincs declared their first innings on 275-7, of which Paul Cook made 62.

Lincolnshire captain Ollie Burford and his opposite number, Northumberland's Daniel Shurben, agreed to early declarations to give both sides a chance of winning the match after rain washed out two sessions on Monday.

In their first innings Northumberland posted a massive 383-9, Shurben, Alistair Maiden, Adam Cragg and Richard Coughtrie all making half-centuries.
