 Priaulx is a three-time world champion |
Andy Priaulx got a fourth and a fifth in Valencia at the weekend to move up to fourth in the World Touring Car Championship at the weekend. The BMW Team UK driver fought his way up from 14th on the grid to finish fifth in race one before maintaining fourth place throughout race two. The Guernsey driver said: "It was a tough weekend and I certainly enjoyed some good racing. "I am relieved to leave Spain with some solid points in the bag." The first of the two 13 lap races on the 4.005km Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo saw a lot of contact in the first corner after the rolling start. Priaulx managed to avoid that and was able to move up nine places by the time the chequered flag went out. Race two saw him stuck behind the Seat of Gabriele Tarquini and, although he got past the Italian on lap eight, it was only briefly and he had to settle for fourth. Priaulx moved up to fourth from sixth in the drivers' championship and is now on 35 with defending champion Yvan Muller leading on 57.
