Meanwhile Colin Montgomerie's 13th place was good enough to take him back into the top 10. The Scot dropped out of the top 10 for the first time in more than seven years last week, but with Thomas Bjorn missing the halfway cut at The Open, he was able to reclaim his spot among the world's elite. Under the two-year system Paul Lawrie has now lost all his ranking points from his 1999 victory at Carnoustie and crashes from 66th to 105th. Open runner-up Niclas Fasth climbs to 49th and may now as a result receive an invitation to next month's US PGA championship. Ian Woosnam is up from 88th to 67th, but would have gone into the top 50 as well if he had not received his two-stroke penalty and had finished second. World rankings 1 T Woods (USA) |
