Town old boy Jimmy Ryan helped Liverpool to the 2007 FA Youth Cup
Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson has plans to counter Jimmy Ryan, who he released last summer, when he returns with Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
Ryan has already wounded Simpson this season, having starred in Stanley's 2-1 home win against Shrewsbury in October.
Simpson said: "We got caught out by Jimmy at Accrington. We've got to make sure we don't get caught out again.
"He's shown this season there's ability there. I just didn't feel he was going to benefit us by staying."
Ryan, 20, who joined Shrewsbury in the summer of 2007 after making an impact in Liverpool's youth team, made just one league start in his year at Oteley Road.
But he has scored six times this season and set up the first of Stanley's two goals as Shrewsbury got caught cold at Accrington back in October, conceding twice in the first six minutes.
Shrewsbury have slipped back down to ninth place in League Two after their 3-1 weekend home defeat against automatic promotion-chasing Brentford - but are still only two points out of the play-off zone.
Town officials have confirmed that the game will go ahead despite the recent adverse weather.
