Ben Davies believes Shrewsbury Town can truly target automatic promotion again after Tuesday night's vital 2-0 home victory over Accrington Stanley.
Town had dropped out of the League Two play-off zone with Saturday's home defeat by second-placed Brentford.
But, on a night when Brentford lost, Davies said: "If we can string three or four wins together we'll be up there.
"We've 17 games left, we're targeting another 10 or 11 wins to get automatic promotion and that's one struck off."
First-half goals from defender Graham Coughlan and leading marksman Grant Holt, who hit his 22nd goal of the season from the penalty spot, helped close the gap on the automatic places to just three points again - seven behind leaders Wycombe.
And Davies told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's a massive three points for us with Brentford losing.
"After the weekend we needed to bounce back with a win.
"Teams always throw points away in this league and we've got to make sure we keep winning our home games."
Paul Simpson's side were helped by Brentford's 2-0 defeat at Morecambe, but his old club Rochdale moved up to fourth with a 2-0 win at Chester.
Shrewsbury now have a chance to make real inroads on the top three with four very winnable games.
Their next two away game are against the bottom two, Bournemouth (this Saturday) and Luton Town (21 February), with successive home games sandwiched in between against Chesterfield and struggling Chester.
