Simpson's side have only won once away from home in the league
Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson has hit back at critics who he says have questioned his team's commitment.
Saturday's 2-1 win over Chesterfield lifted Town to seventh in League Two, prompting Simpson to suggest that recent criticism had been unjustified.
"Unfairly I think some people have questioned our desire and commitment and I don't think anybody could today," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"We're having a go. We're trying to get ourselves in the promotion places."
Shrewsbury have won 12 home games this season but only once away from the Prostar Stadium, a record that has prompted scepticism about their promotion prospects.
"We're in a good position," Simpson said.
"We're trying to get ourselves out of this league, but we're only part of the way to where we want to go."
Depending on results elsewhere, Shrewsbury have a chance to get within a point of the automatic promotion places when they host nose-diving Chester on Tuesday night (17 February, 1945 GMT).
