Promotion the priority says Holt

Shrewsbury striker Grant Holt has said that the Shrews' push for promotion from League Two is more important than him scoring his 100th career goal.

Holt, 27, has found the net 22 times this season to help Town to eighth in the table and to take his career tally to 94 goals.

"It's something I'm definitely looking to try and get sooner rather than later," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I'm just going to keep going but it's not about me, it's about the team."

After beginning his career with non-league Workington, Holt had spells with Halifax, Barrow and Sheffield Wednesday before joining Rochdale in January 2004.

Holt scored 34 goals in 75 appearances during his time at Spotland and moved to Nottingham Forest in January 2006 for 300,000.

After two years at the City Ground, Holt joined Shrewsbury in June 2008 for a club record fee of 170,000.

But after seeing the Shrews slip out of the play-off places with last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth, Holt said that results are more important than who is scoring the goals.

"Hopefully somebody will come and start scoring goals from everywhere and we'll get promoted," said Holt.
