Bucks forward glad to play again

New Telford United striker Mark Danks is ready to fight for his place after missing the Bucks' last two games in the FA Trophy because he was cup-tied.

Danks admits he would have liked to have been involved in Tuesday night's quarter final replay win at Southport.

"The lads have done well in the last two games, so if I'm playing that would be great, if not I've got to keep going," he told BBC Shropshire.

"I've been trying to get myself 100% fit and being ready for the games."

The 25-year-old, who signed late on deadline day, made his debut in the 1-0 win at Tamworth on 7 February and scored his first goal for the club in the Bucks' last league game against Vauxhall Motors.

"It was nice to open my account," he said. "I don't like going more than three games without a goal, so it was nice to get one."

Manager Rob Smith will have to decide which strike duo to pick for Saturday's trip to relegation-haunted Hyde United.

Andy Brown is fit again, having come on as a late sub in the Trophy win at Southport after missing seven games with an Achilles injury.

With Brown, Terry Fearns and Danny Carey-Bertram all having hit 15 goals or more this season, Danks knows he will have to work hard to get his chance.

"It's nice to have a squad with good strikers," he said. "It makes you want to do even better."

Confident Telford return to league action lieing third in the Blue Square North, having reached the last four of both the FA Trophy and the Setanta Shield.
