Goalkeeper Joe Anyon believes the Port Vale defence will start keeping clean sheets as they grow in confidence.
The 21-year-old has yet to go a game without conceding a goal, letting in six goals in five matches this season.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a good back four and we're starting to gel brilliantly.
"We have looked at the faults where we conceded and how we can put them right. The way things are going we are all confident in each other."
Anyon has made more than 70 appearances for Vale since joining as a trainee, the majority of which were in League One.
"It's a lot more route one, and a lot more physical in this league. I'm having to come for a lot more crosses, but we've got some big, honest lads in our team," he said.
"If we can grind a few more results out - winning on Saturday against Bradford would be a massive boost - I think we'll keep ourselves in good stead."
