Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock has called on his players to "stand up and be counted" after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Argyle have won just one game in 10 and scored only five goals in that time.
"People are waiting for things to happen instead of making it happen," Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon.
"If we don't get a blend of men who want to stand up and be counted we're going to have a real tussle from now until he end of the season."
Sturrock felt that his side were not strong, or confident enough at the City Ground.
"I just feel that battles all over the football pitch were not getting won," he said.
"My centre forwards were getting battered from pillar to post and I don't feel my back four were in the mood to make it a hard day for them.
"I watched Nottingham Forest 10 or 12 games ago and they had no confidence in them and we look that way at this minute in time.
"The players should have an appreciation of how we've been successful in the middle of the season before this run.
"We've got to start remembering what we did successfully to be fifth in the league, rather than the performances like today."
