Oxford United youngster Sam Deering has joined Blue Square South side Newport County on a month-long loan.
The midfielder, 18, has yet to play a competitive game for the U's in 2009 after breaking his leg on Boxing Day.
Manager Chris Wilder is keen to build up Deering's match fitness so he can be involved with the United first team on his return to the Kassam Stadium.
Deering is expected to be available for the Welsh side's fixture against Eastleigh this weekend.
United assistant manager Mickey Lewis told BBC Oxford: "He hasn't played any proper competitive football since December.
"It will do him so good and hopefully he will come back in a month or so really buzzing."
