Deering has impressed since breaking into the first team at Oxford
Oxford United have secured the future of one of their most talented prospects after Sam Deering committed himself to a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 17-year-old has recently broken into the first team and told BBC Oxford that he is delighted to put pen to paper on a professional contract.
"I'm very happy to get a deal at this club, it's a great club," he said.
"They are looking to bring the youth through, I am proof of that. The youth system is great here."
The teenager joined another youth team player, James Dobson, in the team against Hayes & Yeading, and head of youth development Les Taylor says Deering can have a big future in the game despite the East Londoner's diminutive stature.
"His height is the only weakness he's got, but to be fair he jumps like he is about 6ft 4," said Taylor.
"He is a good competitor, he's got a old head on young shoulders. He is definitely worth a place in the first team, he has earned that right."
