Sappleton scored after coming off the bench against Salisbury

On-loan striker Ricky Sappleton is returning to Leicester City after a one-month spell at Oxford United.

The 19-year-old scored a goal and assisted another on his United debut in the 2-0 win over Salisbury but failed to find form in three games since.

"We are not going to extend Ricky's loan. We are going to look for a touch more experience," said Oxford manager Chris Wilder.

"We are hopefully going to get someone else in to give us more competition."

He added: "He has done well for us being involved in a team that won five on the bounce and we thank Leicester for the loan."
