James Constable says Oxford United can still make the play-offs - even though they have accepted a five-point deduction for an unregistered player.
The U's are 11th after the deduction, nine points off the top five, and their top scorer believes they are capable of putting together a late charge.
"When it came out it was a bitter pill to swallow," said striker Constable.
"But it was key that we saw it as two games won and that is the five points cleared. That's the mentality we have."
Chris Wilder's side have won five Blue Square Premier games in a row.
Constable, on loan from Shrewsbury, has scored 15 goals this season.
