McNamee played 91 games for Watford before joining Swindon in 2008
Anthony McNamee says the prospect of playing in front of regular full houses at Carrow Road was a major factor in his move to Norwich.
The Swindon winger signed on loan with the Canaries last week and is expected to join permanently in January.
The 26-year-old told BBC Radio Norfolk: "You can't really refuse playing in front of 25,000 fans.
"I like playing in front of good atmospheres and playing for Norwich is a big thing for me," McNamee added.
Swindon boss Danny Wilson issued a 'hands off' warning earlier this season after Norwich tabled what he considered an unacceptable bid for the winger.
McNamee is out of contract next summer and the former Watford youth player admits it's been a distracting few months.
"Knowing that a big club is after you, the size of Norwich, is going to take your mind off your daily job, but it's done now so I'm happy.
"I like the place, it's really nice, better than what I'm used to. I just can't wait to get into it.
McNamee added: "I think I can do a little bit of everything but I am more of a winger. I know Darren Huckerby was a legend at Norwich so hopefully I could be the same."
McNamee could make his Norwich debut at Southend on Tuesday after being cup-tied for their FA Cup defeat at Carlisle on Saturday.
