Northampton Town have signed Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Luke Boden on a month-long loan, and striker Adebayo Akinfenwa could yet stay at the club.
Swansea wanted Akinfenwa, 27, to return to the club but are thought to have had second thoughts and he could play this Saturday for the Cobblers.
Boden, 20, has previously played for Chesterfield and Rushden and Diamonds.
Boss Stuart Gray told BBC Radio Northampton: "Luke has impressed us when we've watching him."
Meanwhile, Gray has heavily criticised the handling of Danny Jackman's move to Gillingham.
Gray believes that Jackman has been advised wrongly and has let the fans down.
"I'm very disappointed in the way it's been conducted. It's just left a bitter taste to be honest," he said.
