Lee Trundle scored 86 goals in four years at Swansea
Swansea have completed the loan signing of Lee Trundle from Bristol City plus a permanent move for West Brom striker Craig Beattie on a three-year deal.
Former fans favourite Trundle, 32, returns to the club he left two years ago for Bristol City in a £1m deal, but failed to make his mark there.
Scotland international Beattie, 25, has cost the Swans a club record £800,000 fee after passing a medical on Friday.
"I can't wait to get back," said Trundle, who signed until 1 January.
Swansea have been desperate for strikers, not only to replace top scorer Jason Scotland who joined Wigan for £2m in the summer, but to cover for injuries to Stephen Dobbie and Guillem Bauza, and suspension to Gorka Pintado.
Trundle, nicknamed 'Magic Daps' for his trickery, has struggled to make an impact in the Championship and Bristol City boss Gary Johnson is keen to offload him.
He scored seven goals in 58 league and cup appearances for the Robins in the last two seasons - most of those appearances coming from the bench - but has not featured this season.
Leeds United took Trundle on loan in January where he scored once in 10 league outings, and Swindon made a bid for him earlier this month.
Throughout his time at Ashton Gate, Trundle has been regularly linked with a return to south Wales where he scored 86 goals in four years at the club.
"Bristol City were in the Championship [Swansea were still in League One in 2007] and I thought it was the right time to move but in football things change," Trundle told BBC Sport Wales.
"Either they don't play your type of game or you don't fit in in within a certain squad and you've got to get on with it because it happens to the best players in the world sometimes.
"Hopefully I can kick-start myself again at the club I love."
Trundle will wear the number 19 shirt for the Swans and will be available to play against Watford on Saturday along with Beattie.
Swansea's previous transfer record was £400,000, so the deal for Beattie comfortably trumps that sum.
Beattie came through the trainee ranks at Celtic and went on to make 65 appearances, scoring 16 times.
He joined West Brom in July 2007 for £1.25m but made just 40 league and cup appearances for the Baggies, scoring five goals.
They did include seven Premier League appearances last season where he scored once in the 2-0 win over Tottenham.
The Baggies will receive an initial £500,000 from their Championship rivals, with the remaining £300,000 dependent on performances.
West Brom have also inserted a 20% sell-on clause in the deal that has taken Beattie to the Liberty Stadium.
Trundle added: "I've played against him a few times.
"He's a good player and a good goal-scorer so he will be a great asset to the squad.
"Hopefully he can come in and score the goals and get Swansea up the table."
Swansea had earlier been linked with ex-striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, but called off the deal despite agreeing a fee with Northampton.
