Swans in no rush to find striker

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins says the club are in no hurry to bring in a new front man to replace Jason Scotland.

Trinidad & Tobago international Scotland, who scored 53 goals in two seasons, joined former boss Roberto Martinez at Wigan in a £2m deal.

Ipswich striker Pablo Counago has rejected a move to Swansea despite a fee being agreed, while Southampton's Marek Saganowski has also been linked.

"We are quite happy with what we've got," Jenkins told BBC Sport Wales.

"It's a matter of looking at a few options with a variety of contacts to see who might be available. There's no rush."

Spanish midfielder Jordi Lopez is new manager Paulo Sousa's only new signing since taking over from Martinez last month.

"Yes Paulo's looking and yes he knows what he's looking for," added Jenkins.

"We've got a good squad and we've only lost one player."

Jenkins said a new striker "may or may not" arrive in time for the new season which kicks off on Saturday, 8 August, away to Championship newcomers Leicester.

But he denied there had been any informal discussions with Bristol City over a shock return of former striker Lee Trundle.

He also played down links to Saganowski, who would be allowed to leave League One side Southampton.

Swansea have Gorka Pintado and Guillem Bauza as their striking options, plus summer recruit Stephen Dobbie, who was signed before Martinez departed.
