Vernon scored 15 minutes after coming off the bench
Northampton Town's new loan striker Scott Vernon admitted Saturday's 4-0 win over Stockport left him baffled by the club's lowly league position.
The 25-year-old, who joined from Colchester last week, scored the fourth goal after making his Cobblers debut from the substitutes' bench.
"It's hard to understand why this team is 19th in the League One table," Vernon told BBC Radio Northampton.
"I can only go on what I've seen with this performance."
Northampton are still in relegation danger and are just two points and two places above the drop-zone going into Tuesday night's home match against Swindon Town.
