Lord was Saint's player of the season in 2004-05 |
Northampton Saints have announced that second row Matt Lord will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The 31-year-old New Zealander has spent seven seasons at Franklin Gardens and made 154 appearances. "It is a great club and I've experienced plenty of highs as well as lows," Lord told the Saints website. "I was very happy to help the team get back to where it belongs, in the Guinness Premiership, and will take away loads of good memories." The former North Harbour man played just six times this season before an injury in the Guinness 'A' League clash at Bath forced him out until the summer. | Myself and everyone else at the Saints wishes Matt and his family all the best Director of rugby Jim Mallinder |
Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder added: "Matt is one of the quietest but most hard-working members of the Saints squad. "Although his first-team opportunities were limited this season he remained an important player, particularly in helping the younger players develop as part of the Wanderers teams in the Guinness 'A' League. "Myself and everyone else at the Saints wishes Matt and his family all the best for the future."
